Owner / Event Planner
I actually went to school to become a wedding photographer. But when digital cameras came out and overnight everyone was a self proclaimed photographer, it no longer felt special to me and I quickly lost interest.
Photography had always been my plan so I felt like I had lost my direction. I kept working doing a variety of jobs that coincidentally all included some form of event planning or another and in my spare time found myself always the one to plan parties for friends and family. My friends even started calling my events "Parties by Kiki". (A nickname I earned for my Hawaiian roots!)
One day I stepped back to observe a festival I had just planned and thought to myself, "I'm good at this. Like REALLY good at this. And I love it. So why am I not doing THIS for my career?" The rest was history. I took that love for events, got my professional certification and started working for a boutique wedding planning firm in Austin in 2011. I knew right away I had finally found my direction again. I was meant to be doing this and I haven't looked back since. In 2015, with the blessing of my former boss, I took a leap of faith and branched off on my own. It wasn't the most direct route to getting here but I'm excited for Austin Event Angels to continue growing!
When I'm not planning weddings, I'm a #mom2boys and outnumbered by them + the dog + my loving husband. So I find my balance going from weekends in a baseball cap to decorating and designing all things pretty. Whether it's lush floral or specialty drinks, there is no event that I can't help you find a way to make it uniquely yours.
